Banner Wind, LLC
Banner Wind, LLC is a renewable energy venture that is the result of an equal partnership between Sitnasuak Native Corporation (SNC) and Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC).  The project is comprised of 18 wind towers located five miles northwest of Nome.  Banner Wind will deliver 900 kilowatts of power to the Nome Joint Utility electrical grid over a 20-year extendable project and is expected to provide approximately 10% of the city's annual electricity needs.

The energy produced by the Banner Wind Farm will be sold at a fixed or floating price, and revenues will be divided equally between SNC and BSNC.  The project will help reduce Nome's dependence on expensive fossil fuels used for heating.  The partners in the Banner Wind Farm believe this project can spur other renewable energy projects in the area, thereby increasing the options for heating and energy for Nome residents.

Bonanza Fuel, Inc.
Bonanza Fuel, incorporated in 1993, is a common carrier for delivery of petroleum and propane products in Nome and on the surrounding road systems, including Teller, Council, and the Kougourak Roads.  Products delivered include home heating fuel, road and marine diesel, unleaded gasoline, and propane.  Bonanza Fuel owns and operates a 3.6-million gallon tank farm located at the Port of Nome, which can both receive and deliver bulk fuel to marine fuel barges.  Bonanza's truck delivery fleet includes eight fuel trucks ranging in size from a 2600-to-4600 gallon hauling capacity, and a bulk propane delivery truck.  Bonanza specializes in marine fuel deliveries at the Port of Nome for small fishing boats, gravel barges, and even cruise ships.

In addition, Bonanza Fuel also owns and operates two separate retail gas stations.  Bonanza Express, located at the corner of Seppala and Bering Street in downtown Nome, is a full-service gas station that offers eight credit-card, unleaded and diesel retail pumps, a propane bottle exchange service, and a full-service convenience store.  Bonanza Express store hours are 6:00am to 2:00am, seven days a week.  Bonanza Fuel also owns and operates four credit-card-only gas and diesel pumps located on the east end of Nome at the Nome Trading Post for those last minute fuel purchases on the way out of town.

Bonanza Fuel offices are conveniently located in the same building as the Bonanza Express convenience store, where friendly staff can assist with any fueling needs.  If you are a first-time customer, it is necessary to fill out a credit application for fuel delivery.  As a returning customer it is possible to sign up for either will call or automatic delivery fuel service for either heating oil or propane.  The State of Alaska has a Heating Assistance Program which will pay a portion of home heating expenses if you qualify.  Don't forget to ask about our senior discount for fuel purchases.  Please call Bonanza at (907) 387-1201 or stop by our office for any additional information.

Nanuaq, Inc.
Nanuaq, Inc. owns apartment buildings in the city available for long term rental.  These buildings require a six-month minimum lease and include a 4-, 10-, 12- and 26-plex, as well as two 14-plex units.  The apartment size ranges from efficiency up to four-bedroom capacity units.  To be considered for a rental, you must complete a rental application.  For any additional information apartment availability or with other questions, please contact Nanuaq at (907) 387-1202.

Nanuaq, Inc. also owns a commercial property within the City of Nome that is available for rent.  The facility is designed with the 1890's Gold Rush theme with cedar siding, bay windows and decks.  The entrance lobby incorporates a polished brass ceiling system to evoke a feeling and flavor of gold and the Gold Rush era. Beyond the gold rush theme, the building is a modern structure with insulated office walls that include resilient sound clips under the drywall.  Since this is a new facility all the building materials are non-hazardous and meet current code for non-leading paint and asbestos-free construction.  Based on an environmental assessment, the property was determined to be free of hazardous materials and to be environmentally safe. The facility is designated non-smoking.

Located on 214 Front Street or Main Street of Nome where most visitors spend time, the building is conveniently located on the Iditarod Trail close to the finish line.  At the present time the office building is 97% occupied.  Call (907) 387-1202 for more information.
