The Sitnasuak Native Corporation Board of Directors is comprised of eleven members who are elected to three-year terms. The officers, elected annually by the Board, serve a one-year term and meets as posted below. The Board of Directors has established six committees: Executive, Land, Finance, Elders, By-Laws, and Scholarship.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of the five corporate officers: President, first and second vice-presidents, secretary, and the treasurer. When Authorized by a resolution of the Board of Directors, the committee may exercise the control of the Board management of the corporation; except where action of the SNC Board is required by the State of Alaska statutes.

Land Committee

Members: Homer Hoogendorn, Perry Mendenhall, Helen Bell, Gloria Karmun,  & Robert Bahnke, Sr. 

The Land Committee is served by seven shareholders of Sitnasuak. Sitnasuak Native Corporation has Land Use Policies which recognizes both the traditional use and economic development needs of land. The Committee makes recommendations of State and Federal land use plans and programs to the Board of Directors.

Finance Committee

Members: Homer Hoogendorn, Perry Mendenhall, Helen Bell, Mike Wassman, Jacob Ahwinona, & Neal Foster

The Finance Committee function is to review proposals, financial reports and budgets to make recommendations to the Board of Directors concerning these matters.

Elders Committee

Members: Helen Bell, Perry Mendenhall, Jacob Ahwinona, Rose Koezuna, Lilly Rose, & Vincent Pikonganna

The responsibility of the Elders Committee is to investigate and recommend the maximum possible benefits affordable to our elder shareholders. It also serves as an advocate for the Nome Senior Citizens Center, the Bering Straits Elder Committee, and the Aboriginal Senior Citizens' of Alaska. SNC continues to sponsor elder representatives of this area while they attend conferences throughout the State pertaining to elder concerns and issues.

By-Laws Committee

Members: Neal Foster, Helen Bell, Jacob Ahwinona, Homer Hoogendorn, Brenda Menadelook, & Bruce Tungwenuk

The By-Laws Committee has two basic responsibilities: first they periodically review the corporate policies to ensure they conform with changes made in the State statute. In the even changes occur, the By-Laws Committee notifies the SNC Board of Directors and makes recommendations for their consideration, and to make such recommendation to the subsidiary corporations.

Secondly, they serve as a Personnel Committee for employees. Recommendations are made to the Board of Directors concerning employee benefits, pay scales, and our Personnel Policies. Whey financial considerations need to be addressed, recommendations are made jointly by the Finance and By-Laws Committees.

Scholarship Committee

Members: Thomas Okleasik, Josie Bahnke, & Dawn Salesky

Sitnasuak also has a well established educational scholarship program for its shareholders. Financial assistance is given to full-time higher education students, vocational training students and part-time students attending a wide variety of community colleges. While it is our policy to promote advanced educational and training amongst our shareholders, we also insist that our scholarship recipients adhere to the standards of the institution they attend.

Meeting Schedule

Board of Directors-Quarterly meetings set for the last Friday of months February, May, August, and November.

Nanuaq-Quarterly meetings are set for the 2nd Wednesday of months January, April, July, and October.

Bonanza Fuel Inc.-Quarterly meetings are set for the 1st Tuesday of months January, April, July, and October.

Executive Committee-Meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

Bylaws/Personnel Committee-Annual meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

Finance Committee-Monthly meetings are set for the 3rd Thursday of the month.

Land Committee-Bi-monthly meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

Elders Committee-Meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

SNC Foundation-Meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

SNC Telecommunications-Meetings are set by the call of the Chair.

GBS, LLC-Meetings are set by the call of the Chair.
